“The Things They Carried” Exhibit opens Monday Feb. 8th

As part of the Kirksville Big Read event, an exhibition of Vietnam War era artifacts will be on display at the Arts Center February 8-26th. The opening reception is Monday, February 8th ~ 6:00-7:30 p.m.

“The Things They Carried: Mementos from Kirksville Vietnam War Veterans” is  curated by a group of Truman State University art history students. While gathering photos and mementos for the exhibit, the students had an opportunity to interview Kirksville Vietnam War veterans about their experiences.

Kirksville’s Big Read will focus on “The Things They Carried,” a book by Tim O’Brien that discusses the lives of American soldiers during the Vietnam War.
